Western Canadian Championships
Glenmore Reservoir - Calgary

Please accept our invitation to Calgary to participate in and enjoy our Western hospitality. Enclosed is the information package, detailing all of the required information necessary to take part in our Regatta. We are expecting a large turnout and an excellent racing competition. Our regatta is taking place during the World Famous Calgary Stampede. You may want to stay a little longer and take in all the sights and activities we have to offer.

Important Notes:

1. Regatta Race Package (Enclosed): Regatta notes, race plans, and entry forms are enclosed. Please remember to provide the athlete's full name.

2. Fees: Fees for the regatta are $30.00 for each athlete and $20.00 for War Canoe and Masters/Adult. Fees must be paid prior to racing. Please provide one cheque to cover the fees for your club's participants.

3. Authentic Calgary Stampede Breakfast: This cost is included in the regatta fee for athletes. Extra tickets for parents, officials, etc. can be purchased until noon Saturday. The cost of extra breakfast tickets is $5.00 per ticket. The Stampede breakfast will be served up Sunday morning prior to the day's race events.

4. Medal Presentations: Medals will be presented throughout the Regatta. Trophies and Burgees will be presented shortly after the conclusion of the last race on Sunday.

5. Canteen: There will be a canteen on site both race days featuring baked products, fruit, fresh made to order sandwiches, juice, water, coffee, and the usual comfort foods (candy).

6. Accommodations: A map of Calgary is included together with details of available accommodation. We suggest booking as soon as possible as the Calgary Stampede is also happening this weekend and rooms will go quickly.

7. Parking: Parking is available on site at the club. Boat trailers will be allowed to park on the lower parking area near the water.

8. Security: Arrangements are in place to provide all night security for the boats and trailers.

9. Team Spirit: There will be an award presented to the club displaying the most team spirit during the regatta.

10. Scratch Meeting: The scratch meeting will take place Friday July 11, 2003 at 7:00 PM at the Calgary Canoe Club (North Glenmore Park).

We look forward to your participation being the key to the success of the Regatta.
