Team Supervision
The coach(s) will take charge of the group at the event. All athletes are expected to behave appropriately and represent themselves and the Calgary Canoe Club responsibly and display the highest degree of sportsmanship. All team members are required to follow instructions of the coaches. It is expected that some parents will join the team in Seattle. Coaches may ask for parents to help support the team if they are there.

Transportation
Entering USA - If under 18, The athlete must travel with a consent for minor to travel form. They should also carry with them the Team regatta information form and the address of the Nexus Hotel. Athletes may use Mike's phone # for emergence contact if asked at customs (403-615-7606).
See the shared flight information sheet HERE.
TO SEATTLE - Graham and Mike will drive the team van and boat trailer to Seattle, departing early Thursday morning and arriving in Seattle on Friday, June 9. Helen and Gill fly direct to and from Seattle. Plan for evening flights so athletes may group up at airport and meet coaches. Below is one flight option (image taken May 14).
FROM SEATTLE: Last year the event ended before 3pm, this would allow for flights out 7pm or after.
The coaching team will meet the athletes and provide transportation to and from the airport. Athletes making flights outside the expect arrival dates and times may not be met. We hope athletes will fly as a group or in groups. When booking flights, please review what others have booked and enter your flight info so others can also see it. Sharing in this way helps people book in groups. See the shared flight information sheet HERE.
Accommodation
We have reserved a total of 14 rooms at the Nexus Hotel, a short distance north of Green Lake. The Hotel includes a breakfast, and mini-fridge and microwave. Team size may be limited due to the ability to get additional rooms. For this reason, it is suggested to register for the event sooner than later.
While In Seattle
We will have the 15-passenger team van for transportation between the airport, hotel and the competition site at Green Lake.
Meals in Seattle
Athletes will be responsible for meals in Seattle. Our team is gaining experience in the grocery stores and ‘preparing meals to go’; and Hotel living.... we will drive athletes to shop as needed. The CCC team will have one big meal out at a local restaurant Saturday night, location TBD. Athletes should have funds for the team meal.
Cost Breakdown
The fees have been based on a team of 20+ Calgary Canoe Club athletes attending the event. We certainly would like it if more of you would be with us at the competition, but this is a safe number to base our budget on. The fees are structured based on an equal share user pay model.
Note: Flights are to be booked by athelte families and are not included in the Team Fee.
Included in the fee is ($410):
- Race Entry Fee (100 USD)
- Trailer and coaching cost
- Subsidy from the CCC Sprint Budget ($1000)
We know events are costly and we strive to keep costs low. CHECK OUT THE CCC FUNDRAISING PAGE
