The RegattaEach season, club teams from across the country converge on a single location to test their skills and stamina against the best the Country has to offer. In 2024, the event will be held in Welland, Ontario.
The Canadian Championships is a U16+ age class event with younger athletes often racing up in the U16 crews. Mostly clubs will have younger athletes in the crew boats and the crews serve as the athlete’s first exposure the prestigious event. However, U14's can and do sometimes compete well in the older races. This year we do have U14's entered in U16 crews at the Divisional Champs who are trying to earn qualifications in both War Canoe and small boats. Coaches will advise athletes if the National Champs is a good event to participate.
Racing Shirts: Make sure you have one if you don't - Click Here.
Meals: Food will be provided with the help of Parents for lunch and dinner on competition days at the course. Athletes can grocery shop for breakfast and snacks. A grocery store is located next to the hotel.

Accommodation at the Champs: Our team has reserved a block of rooms at the Best Western Plus Cairn Croft Hotel. Rooming Assignment (TBD by coaches). The hotel lists laundry services. We have estimated team size of 55 paddlers and expect to have 3-5 rooms remaining for parents. In our booking. Depending on final team size we may be able to free up more rooms. Initially we have 3 rooms open on a first come basis. If these rooms are taken, keep checking back and more may be made availible in our team booking. Parents taking these rooms can make payment directly to the hotel when checking out so they do not get added to our final bill. Click here to secure one of our parent rooms.

Travel to and from Champs: Near airports are Hamilton (85km), Toronto (122km) or even Buffalo NY (42km). The preferred airport is Hamilton where we can more easily arrange transport to the hotel. Bus and Rail options are available between Toronto Pearson International and with a stop 2 km from our hotel. We will be reviewing all options. The team will checkout and depart Sunday the 25th..

The Team will have our 15 passenger van and two rental vehicles on-site to manage transportation to and from the race course.

Fees: The Calgary Canoe Club takes a 'TEAM' approach to fees and all paddlers share in common costs for the team to compete. examples of shared costs include: Boat Transportation to/from the regatta, the cost to have coaches at the event, club entry fees. Athletes will be responsible for flights, meals and hotel rooms fees. The greater the CCC team size, the lesser the athletes individual contribution to the shared components.

Note: South Niagara College and Brook University could not accommodate our team this year and hotel options were limited due to the tourist season around Niagara. The hotel booking is a significant portion of the team cost. Bookings are made with 2 athletes in each room (two queen beds). However, if 4 athletes want to share a room, this could be an option to lower your fees.

***Note: ROOM SELECTION: Athletes can choose between sharing a room with 4 or 2 people. Please indicate your preference on the registration form and list the 4 individuals you’d like to share a room with.***
