Road to Nationals (Ottawa • Aug 25-29)

The Divisional Championships serve as the direct qualification event for the Canadian Championships, the pinnacle event of our season.

Qualification Rules

Each of the six Canadian Divisions holds a regional regatta to determine its national entries. The top 4 ranked crews in each event earn a spot at Nationals, with an exception for the U16 6000m event, which advances the top 5 ranked crews. Unfilled entries enter a random draw pool for redistribution; if our division receives a spot, the next ranked athlete is notified immediately. If an earned spot is declined, it automatically rolls down to the next ranked crew within the division.

⚠️ Immediate Action Required

Coaches face an incredibly tight timeline to finalize entries. Immediately following the Divisional Regatta, clubs must accept or decline earned spots. You must communicate your intentions to your coach in advance or be ready to confirm the moment results are posted. Please mark your intent clearly on your regatta registration form.

CCC national accommodations are pre-booked for qualifying athletes from Aug 23-30 at the Residence Inn by Marriott Ottawa Airport.

Team Transportation

Travel will be via a fully equipped 56-passenger bus alongside the coaching team.

Cost Share Policy: All athlete fees assume an equal share of transport costs. To keep splits equitable, the base fee remains unchanged for athletes choosing to travel separately with parents.

Parents/Cheer Squad: Empty seats may be purchased by parents for $120 round-trip (confirmed 2 days prior to departure).

Regina Commute: The hotel is a 2.6km walk to the racecourse. The single team van stays on-site; athletes should expect to walk to and from the venue.

Boat & Equipment Transport

The equipment trailer travels one day ahead of the team so all boats are ready upon arrival.

Athlete Duty: Loading and unloading is a major team effort. All athletes are expected to assist during scheduled loading times.

⚠️ DO NOT ASSUME gear is packed! Athletes must be present to double-check that their personal paddles, PFDs, and racing gear are safely loaded onto the trailer.
Lodging & Supervision

Hotels: Reserved room blocks (2 queen beds) are secured at adjacent properties on Albert Street: the Royal Oak Travelodge and the Fairfield Marriott. Parents arranging alternate lodging must notify the club in advance.

Supervision: Team coaches will oversee the athlete group across the weekend. High standards of behavior, sportsmanship, and responsible club representation are expected at all times.

Under 12 Athletes: Must be accompanied by a parent or designated guardian. Parents are responsible for booking their own lodging and are highly encouraged to join the support squad.

Regatta Meals Breakdown
Bus Travel: Please pack meals/snacks or bring money to purchase food at highway stops (both directions).
Breakfast: Provided complimentary by the hotels on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Lunch & Snacks: Coordinated at the racecourse by parent volunteers via the CCC Fueling Station (meant for continuous energy/hydration, not a full meal replacement).
