Looking ahead to Nationals (Ottawa • Aug 25-29)

The Divisional Championships in Regina serve as the direct qualification event for the Canadian Championships.

Qualification Rules

Top 4 ranked crews earn a spot at Nationals (top 5 for U16 6000m). Unfilled entries enter a random draw. If an earned spot is declined, it rolls down to the next ranked crew.

⚠️ Immediate Action Required

Immediately following the regatta, clubs must accept/decline spots. Communicate intentions to your coach in advance or be ready to confirm the moment results are posted.

CCC national accommodations are pre-booked (Aug 23-30) at the Residence Inn by Marriott Ottawa Airport.

Team Transportation

Travel via a 56-passenger bus. Base fee assumes equal share of transport costs. Some coaches will be on the bus with athletes. Parents/Cheer Squad may purchase any empty seats for $120.

Clarification: In the past, some athletes traveled with their parents to the competition. The team fees are calculated, with all athletes covering an equal share of the team bus. If not on the bus, the team fee remains to avoid impacting the shared cost split among the team. However, if the bus is full and additional transportation is needed, we may be able to make adjustments that don’t increase the cost for those on the bus.

Regina Commute: Hotel is a 2.6km walk to the racecourse. The team van stays on-site; expect to walk.

Boat & Equipment

Trailer travels one day ahead. All athletes are expected to assist with loading/unloading.

⚠️ DO NOT ASSUME gear is packed! Athletes must double-check their own gear when loading.
Lodging & Supervision

Hotels: Reserved room blocks at Royal Oak Travelodge and Fairfield Marriott. U12 Athletes must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who books their own lodging. Note: Athletes are responsible for condition of rooms on departure. Coaches will oversee the team. Coaches may ask parents who attend for assistance with odd tasks and appreciate the support.

Regatta Meals
Bus: Pack food/bring money for food at halfway stop.
Breakfast: Provided by hotels and can be supplemented with shopping.
Lunch/Snacks: Once the Regatta starts, CCC will have a tent on-site for lunches and between race grazing. Coordinated by parent volunteers.
Dinner: Independent; families/athletes responsible for Friday/Saturday. Sunday depends on race times. Coaches may accompany groups of athletes on walk to local restaurants or coordinate a big team meal.
MANDATORY PACKING: PFD (U16 and younger classes), sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, rain gear, team race shirt. My first Regatta link HERE
