Memberships are Pro-Rated for the rest of the season. Fall Program Registration for Youth is OPEN

2026-08-25→30: Canadian Champs — Ottawa

The Regatta:

Each season, club teams from across the country converge on a single location to test their skills and stamina against the best the country has to offer. In 2026, the event will be held in Ottawa and hosted by the Rideau Canoe Club.

The Canadian Championships is a U16+ age class event with younger athletes often racing up in the U16 crews. Clubs will mostly have younger athletes in the crew boats where the crews serve as the athlete’s first exposure to this prestigious event. However, U14s can and do sometimes compete well in the older races. If you have not attended the Canadian Champs, it is a fantastic mix of participation and world-class performers. We are excited for our new and veteran paddlers to experience it.

Team Accommodations:

RESIDENCE INN BY MARRIOTT OTTAWA AIRPORT

We understand that some athletes will travel with parents who may make alternate plans for accommodations, and we are happy to support this. Please note this on the registration form. You will be asked to select the hotel nights required as part of the registration process. If you are not staying with the team, please share your plans in the space provided. Check-in can begin Sunday, Aug 23, with final checkout on Sunday, Aug 30. Not all athletes will need to attend the full duration depending on the event schedule. Where possible, athletes should have one full day in Ottawa before competition to ensure they know the area and have prepared on the racecourse.

Meals:

Athletes are responsible for their own meals at this event. Grocery stores and restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel and the race course. The host organizing group may offer food options on-site. The team hotel rooms feature a basic kitchen setup.

Team Travel:

Athletes and families are responsible for booking flights. Although we will have the 15-passenger van in Ottawa, staff will be busy and cannot make multiple shuttle trips to the airport. It is a short taxi ride from the airport to the hotel or race course. The race course itself is walkable from the hotel.

Keep the coaches and organizers in the loop by ENTERING YOUR FLIGHT INFO HERE. Note: The password to view already booked flights will be shared once you submit your registration form.

Fees:

The Calgary Canoe Club takes a "TEAM" approach to fees and all paddlers share in common costs for the team to compete. Examples of shared costs include: boat transportation to/from the regatta, the cost to have coaches at the event, and club entry fees. We expect 30–40 athletes to compete at the National Champs.

Below is the updated list of events. Note highlighted changes for 2026. 'B' Finals in Singles events will be included at the discretion of the High Performance Committee (HPC). PaddleAll events may have B, C, and D finals as needed.
