The Regatta

Each season, club teams from across the country converge on a single location to test their skills and stamina against the best the Country has to offer. In 2025, the event will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The Canadian Championships is a U16+ age class event with younger athletes often racing up in the U16 crews. Mostly clubs will have younger athletes in the crew boats and the crews serve as the athlete’s first exposure the prestigious event. However, U14's can and do sometimes compete well in the older races.

Meals:

The University dorms have kitchen facilities in each suite and paddlers are expected to manage their own meals while at the championships. We aim to have our fantastic group of CCC volunteers help by providing our on-site 'nutrition fueling tent'. Snacks and grazing will be offered to the CCC athletes on the competition days (5 days, starting Tuesday-Saturday).

Accommodations:

Our team has reserved a block of rooms at the University of Regina. Rooms are dorm-style with some kitchen facilities. Rooms contain single and bunk beds. We understand that some young athletes will travel with parents who may make alternate plans for accommodations, and we are happy to support this. Please put this on the registration form.

You will be asked to select the nights required at the university as part of the registration process. If you are not staying with the team, please share your plans in the space provided.

Note:

Due to the start of the school year, no rooms at the University are available on the Saturday night following the last day of racing, August 30. Athletes must checkout of the University dorms by 11AM Saturday, August 30.

Team Travel:

We will NOT be organizing a team bus to Regina. This decision is due to the extended length of the competition and the fact that many athletes may not race on day 1 and 2 of the regatta. Coaches are currently finalizing entries with CKC and the Prairie Division and expect to confirm each athlete’s required dates on August 5th.

We anticipate that many paddlers will carpool or take advantage of low-cost flights available between Calgary and Regina. As the competition approaches, if anyone is having difficulty arranging transportation, please reach out — we will do our best help coordinate travel if needed.

If flying, keep in mind that although we will have the 15 passenger van in Regina Staff are busy and do not expect to be able to make multiple shuttle trips to the airport. It is a short taxi ride from the Regina Airport to the dorms or the race course. The race course itself is an easy walk from the University dorms.

Keep the coaches and organizers in the loop by ENTERING YOUR FLIGHT INFO (link above) Note: The password to view the teams already booked flights will be shown once you fill in your registration form.

Fees:

The Calgary Canoe Club takes a 'TEAM' approach to fees and all paddlers share in common costs for the team to compete. Examples of shared costs include: Boat Transportation to/from the regatta, the cost to have coaches at the event, club entry fees. Athlete rooming ($50/night) and fuelling tent ($20/day) fees will be calculated as part of the registration process. Below is our general cost breakdown for shared team fees.
