Learn how to paddle the Olympic Sprint Racing boats and take part in a fun regatta. Paddlers will learn the basics of Canoe and Kayak: singles, doubles, fours and even the 15+ person War Canoe and Dragon Boats. Whats next, once complete you are ready to join the sprint team.
Prerequisites:
- Ages U12 (as of Jan 1) and have completed the L2P
- New paddlers age U14 (as of Jan 1)
- New paddlers age U16+ please go HERE
- Red Cross Swim Kid Level 6 and or demonstrate equivalent (Canoe Kayak Canada Standard), link here to see lifesaving society equivalent
- Paddlers are instructed to bring a full change of clothing, new paddlers will frequently tip as they learn to balance the racing boats.
Summer: Mon-Fri, 9:00-4:00 Jul 2-12 ($480) - 0 avail. |
Activities include:
- Introduction to racing boats
- Water safety specific to racing boats such as tip, turn, tow
- Skill development in racing canoes & kayaks (team boats)
- Dry-land and on-water games
- Morning Fun regatta and BBQ the last Friday of each session.
Our goal is that participants will develop:
- Basic paddling skills in all of our boats
- Confidence on the water in various conditions
- Teamwork skills
- Learning to manage a little adversity as we realize the activities can be challenging for new paddlers.
