About the Sprint Racing Program

Welcome to the Racing Team, where our mission is to champion and empower you on every step of your athletic voyage. We proudly uphold the rich legacy of the Calgary Canoe Clubs story. Meet the team

SPRING (May-Jun) - Experianced U14 and older paddlers return to on-water training  in May with U12 athletes getting on the water in June as the water warms. This is weather dependant and coaches may conduct land training if conditions have not yet warmed. Sessions are held before and after school hours.
SUMMER (Jul-Aug) - U14 age paddlers take part in the day-program (9am-4pm). Paddlers older than U14 typically train before and after the day program groups with detailed programs provided.
FALL (Sep-Oct) - Like the Spring with before and after school sessions.
WINTER (Nov-Dec) - Committed paddlers continue in the winter training program to prepare for the next season.

    REGATTAS
Paddlers will get the specific information at least two weeks prior to the event (cost, travel logistics etc). General info is posted now on the event schedule. Coaches will reach out to paddlers to confirm their attendance for each event. It is very important that paddlers notify their coach if they are unable to attend as team boats require a team commitment. All athletes are required to wear an official CCC racing singlet for regatta’s. To purchase used or new racing singlet's, please go here.

    GEAR - What to bring
What to wear is important! With Calgary's changing weather and our own weather system here on the reservoir: come prepared with extra layers, proper footwear for both on water and dry land activities, lunch/snacks, hydration, towel, and change of clothes. For the serious athlete: see our list of recommended training gear.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE – For safety, and in respect for the coach and the training partners, times are to be adhered to. We can not send paddlers on the water alone, so once the group has left the dock, paddlers arriving late may not be permitted to participate. Likewise paddlers can not leave the group until the coach brings the paddlers back to the dock together. On time arrival and departures help coaches provide a safe environment.

ATTENDANCE - Coaches and your training partners expect you to attend, please respect this, inform your coach in case you are unable to make a practice.

      PARENTS/GUARDIANS
The CCC has many ways the Parents/Guardian can contribute to the success and growth of the team. We understand that communication is key to success and here are some links. If your question is still not answered please email your coach. Anything regarding the website &/or mail chimp please email admin@calgarycanoeclub.com

      FUNDRAISING
We understand the cost of quality youth programs, to help lower the financial stress we offer fundraising opportunities throughout the season. Some fundraising goes directly into the athletes account, while others help offset program fees, events and equipment. We encourage all to get involved in our Fundraising Team.

      REGISTRATION
We open registration to our youth programs in February. If you ever need help with registration or have questions regarding information on the website please email Kirsten, admin@calgarycanoeclub.com.
